The Board of Directors of the National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) announced that Barbara L. Thomas, will be stepping down as NBMBAA President and CEO effective December 31st, 2009.
The Board of Directors of the National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) announced that Barbara L. Thomas, will be stepping down as NBMBAA President and CEO effective December 31st, 2009.
Under Thomas' leadership, the NBMBAA has increased its membership, cultivated relationships with corporate partners and vendors, and expanded its annual conference career fair to include more Fortune 500 representation. A lifetime member of the NBMBAA, Thomas has served as President of the Boston chapter and at the NBMBAA’s headquarters as Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer before taking the organization’s helm in 2004.
An active search for a new President and CEO will begin immediately. During the transition, the board appointed Stephen Lewis, a member of the National Board of Directors and Director, Strategic Planning Manufacturing Executive Office of the Ford Motor Company to manage the day-to-day business operations of the Association. Lewis served as President of the NBMBAA from 1994 to 1997.
True to our mission, the Association's national staff and board of directors will continue our focus to lead in the creation of educational opportunities and economic growth for Blacks.
