The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is considered to be America's dance ambassador, bringing African American cultural expression and the American modern dance tradition to the world's stages. Their dance is intrinsically an expression of American black history. The New York Times referred to them as "possibly the most successful modern dance company on the planet."
For Black History month the chapter has organized a social event for Saturday February 4th 2012 to attend Alvin Ailey in Toronto. The event is open to both members and non-members - tickets range from $23.02 to $71.01 a discount of 20% from the list price.
The Sony Centre performance will showcase the vision of new Artistic Director Robert Battle with programming that embraces the Ailey tradition of such beloved classics as Revelations and extends the legacy in dynamic new directions.
We will also meet an hour before the show at the spectacular Oliver & Bonacini lounge.
